Student Film Prize

AHPP announces the Arkansas Historic Film Prize for high school students, sponsored by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program and the Arkansas Humanities Council, and in partnership with Arkansas Educational Television Network’s Student Selects: A Young Filmmakers Showcase. The competition honors documentaries made by high school students about any historic site in the state. Films must be between five and fifteen minutes long, and must be about a historic site (building, archeological site, or other site with historic significance) that is at least fifty years old or older. Sites do not have to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, although they may be.

Winners will be shown during a screening at Ron Robinson Theater in May 2016 and will be considered for inclusion in the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival in October of 2016.

ARA Officer Elections

Members of the ARA Delegates' Assembly will soon receive their ballots to vote for this year's ARA elected offices - treasurer and parliamentarian.  Newly adopted amendments to the constitution have made the office of president and vice-president two year positions, thereby eliminating the need for elections for some positions to be held every year.

Local councils are reminded that their elections should be held this spring.  New officers must be members at the ILA, ARA, and local levels. Names will be due to Krista Underwood by May 15 for the Diamond Award deadline.

Council Leadership Institute (CLI) will be held for local council officers on July 15-16 in Searcy.
